The aim of today’s hike is to climb up to the La Ginestra mountain hut and then continue on to Gola di Lago.
First, I head to Lelgio, in Val Capriasca, where there is a large pay-and-display car park. I then set off walking eastwards, following the path that climbs up to Scrévia, and carry on until I reach the hut, from where there is a splendid view over the Gulf of Agno.
After a short break, I set off again towards Caslásc, where there are wide meadows and a stunning view of the valley. Continuing northwards, I pass Sorè and finally reach Zalto, the highest point of this hike.
After lunch, I head down to Gola di Lago along the direct path, which isn’t quite as pleasant as the one I’ve followed so far. There are a few short rocky sections to navigate, which can be tricky if the stones are wet. Alternatively, from Zalto you can continue north and reach the road leading to Gola di Lago with ease.
From there, I take the path down to Luera, where there is a pretty little church in the middle of a large meadow. I then reach Brivio and finally return to Lelgio, where this walk ends.
