Monte San Giorgio (1097 m)

Monte San Giorgio is a mountain of Sottoceneri famous all over the world especially for its fossils.
In addition to this there is also an exceptional flora with numerous varieties of orchids and numerous specimens of flowers, in some cases quite rare.
The ascent to the mountain is generally from the 3 countries that surround it, namely from Meride, Riva San Vitale and Brusino. While the last two have significant differences in height, the ascent from Meride is quite convenient and also suitable for families.
Worthy of note is the pretty little church located right on top and dedicated precisely to San Giorgio. Inside there is also a refectory always open with the possibility of buying drinks. This building was once a hermitage that also hosted the Blessed Manfredo Settala, a hermit who lived between the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, whose remains are kept in Riva San Vitale.
